The selection of songs for this cd is excellent, however unable to leave well enough along they include overblown intros, restarts, embellishments etc making the original tune almost unrecognizable. The arranger should be shot.

When it's time to stop putting off things I hate doing like house-cleaning, then playing uplifting get-up-and-get-moving brass band albums like those from Grimethorpe Colliery and Williams-Fairey can be just the thing. But.. when it's time to slow down, cool off, loosen up, lean back, sip some tea and think of England, there's no better choice than this warmer, lighter, softer, speedier, sweeter and dreamier disc. For example, "Jerusalem" may conjure up Westminster Abbey, William's wedding and Diana's funeral and "Loch Lomond and Comin' Thro' the Rye," wanderings in the Scottish highlands. Marvelous disc, this. Memorable songs, beautifully played and highly recommended. Listen to the song samples here on Amazon and I think you'll hear what I mean.

This is an excellent selection of music and generally difficult to find on CD. The sound quality is good too, and if you like brass arrangements and traditional folk music, this belongs in your collection.
