Description:

Take a look at the 1963 'Billboard' album charts, and right there alongside the hit releases by Andy Williams, Peter, Paul & Mary and Allan Sherman are not one, not two, but 'three' charting albums from U.S. military bands, all of which peaked during the month of June! Can you imagine the same thing happening today? Not even in our most patriotic moments would a military band crack the charts these days! But with this release, we harken back to a time when the strains and swells of our boys set chests-a-puffing and hearts-a-pumping, as we present three albums and 33 tracks of America's finest and their marching bands. Originally presented by the National Cultural Center (now the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts), this one ranks as perhaps our proudest 'Collectors' Choice Music' exclusive!

1Three "Hit" Albums  Feb 19, 2010
Purchased for a Christmas present. Two disc set, one of which did not play. No reply after writing that one of the disc did not play.

5United States Military Band  Nov 08, 2009
If you like concert band music, and marches especially, then you will love these CDs. I have been a musician in concert bands for over 40 years and the United States Military Bands are the epitomy of excellent concert bands. I just wish there were more military concert band CDs like this available. My only complaint is the the Army's concert band was not included on these cds. I would highly recommend purchasing these if you enjoy this kind of music.

1US Army Retired/x Band Member  Jul 28, 2009
I was going to buy this CD then noticed the US Army Band, the Women's Army Corps Band as well as the Women's Air Force Bands were not included in this recording. I'm very disappointed these bands were not included to make this recording what it should have truly been----ALL "U.S. Military Bands" from this era.

5One of the best  Oct 22, 2007
Years ago, I've baught an album (LP) from The Navy Band in Italy. I've never heard US-marches before, but liked them from the start.
Now I'm very happy to have this album and two other ones on CD.
If you like marches you'll like this CD.

5Bicentennial Military Music  Mar 28, 2007
The music from these three US Military Bands was originally released in 1977 as single Long Playing Records to celebrate the Nation's Bicentennial Celebration. It is missing the US ARMY BAND (which I regret) but otherwise the music is GREAT and the Bands are FIRST CLASS as you might expect. Except for the different services renderings of THE NATIONAL ANTHEM, no marches are duplicated. If you enjoy good foot tapping Martial Music...this 2-CD set is worth the price.
