The flag pole is great as a replacement. I like the fact that the two pieces screw together using the brass sections - our old one used screws to hold it in place and it had started to wobble. Two things to be aware of: there is no second screw in the flagpole to hold the lower part of the flag -- it was easy to add, but just be aware. Secondly, the wood color is almost a walnut stain on oak - much darker than the pictures.
