This hat is a good value for the price. I don't think it is intended for formal wear but could be if you wanted. If you want formal wear then you will need to pay $200-$300. This is good for magic acts, street performing, etc. The size is large if that is what you are looking for. The hat is a bit heavy due to the spring mechanism but I tried it on and wore it for a while and soon forgot that I had a hat on. There is no decroative ribbon like you expect on a man's hat but I added a black ribbon for a better look without much trouble.
